"NYUMBA MOJA MITI MIWILI INITIATIVE"
Today NGBM team marked #WORLD LUPUS DAY as to create awareness. El-wak is a dusty, windy town that is prone to drought due to lack of
forest and vegetation cover. NGBM volunteer team is really dedicated to
green and clean environment to provide an opportunity to involve youths
in an activity, mobilize community elders, or help neighbours get to
know each other better due to current insecurity in the country
especially in Mandera County and beyond.
Nyumba Kumi initiative
that the Kenya Government initiated can be achieved through "Nyumba Moja
Miti Miwili" and Community Tree Planting Day, can provide an excellent
opportunity to achieve.
Town beautification and achieving other
goals as mentioned above may be up hill task but with NGBM dedicated
team, support of other interested partners and local community this can
be achieved, changing the general appearance of the town including
improve waste disposal, drainage and its tree canopy as well as
landscaping has the possible impact of attracting business investors,
organisations development to make their headquaters in El-wak.
These trees in future can provide beautiful shape suitable for streets
attraction, soil erosion protection and very nice shade. It will also
change the overall attitude of the residents towards their surrounding
environment as well.
