#ReviveMalkamariNationalPark

To the tribal Activists who drive pleasure from blocking development please think about future generations for once.

A night ago Abdikalif Adan, one of the founders of Nomad Green Belt movement delivered a statement, that his organisation drops the agitation for the Revival of Malkamari National park. The statements reads....

"We wish to inform everyone that Nomad Green Belt Movement has decided to withdraw from the campaign on #ReviveMalkamariNationalPark.  We strongly feel that it's imperative for the proponents of the initiative to conduct thorough and highly participatory consultation with the residents and other stakeholders. Based on feedback from the social media and our personal interaction with the locals,  we feel that this was not done.  The communities were not thoroughly consulted on the impact of this project.  We reiterate that the consultation is fundamental to realise the success. In the principles of do - no - harm which we uphold as an organisation"

The withdrawal of Nomad Green Belt movement from the campaign to revive Malkamari National park was as a result of tribal Activists who some claim to be future political leaders. They don't think beyond their nose. I too stopped the campaign not because the Malkamari people don't want it but because I was confronted by someone who I thought is an intellect but turn out to be an idiot. An activist who thinks tribally- someone  who doesn't deserve to be part of this century.  I have relatives in Malkamari, many of them and they want Malkamari Forest to be conserved.

I have come to realise that, Many activist in this forums are just alarmists who don't even understand what they want. I dare you to face me in a live debate- a TV show kind - and prove that you are geninue.

These are some of the projects so far blocked by the pseudo Activists.

1. Irrigation canal in Neboi.
2. International Airport at Libahiya
3. Animal Market in Mandera
4. SME market in Elwak

Tell me now, you are working for the interest of your community. You are not an activist and you are not doing good to your community. Just please for heaven sake stop using people to get to power!

REVIVE MALKAMARI FORT, NATIONAL PARK AND GAME RESERVE

Nomad Green Belt Movement volunteer Team, desire to revive the once vibrant Malkamari fort, national park and game reserve has received massive support from the people of Northern Kenya and beyond.

As we seek to market this wonderful phenomenon to the entire world, we offer you this opportunity to provide us with important information as far as the history and the state of the facility is. It is through this that we look forward towards mobilizing well-wishers in conjunction with the Kenya wildlife services (KWS)and the county government to make it a better place for our people.

The revival of Malkamari National Park will see the County government get additional revenue to develop our region, create employment opportunities and work towards preservation of our heritage. The economy of the Mandera County will receive an enormous economic boost through both domestic and foreign tourist. It will also see our people benefit from the President Kenyatta scrap of conservancy fees hence have access to domestic tourism at a far reduced cost.

In this regard therefore, we seek for reliable and relevant information of a topic of your interest e.g environment and wildlife.

Share your observations and experiences learnt from our old generation with regard to the facility as well as our traditions. This could be in the form of photographs, videos, info-graphic and links.
Kindly support us uncover the truth in this journey.

REVIVE MALKAMARI NATIONAL PARK

As a volunteer environmentalists, we will a shame the previous National Park destructors, "on their knees." Our team made comments about it several times on social media prior Malkamari National Park destructors.
The wilful neglect of our environment and wildlife is an act of treachery and has implications not only for our flora and fauna, but also the human population.
Looks like the recovery will take sometime in terms of revival and the return of confidence in our scientific bodies. This is part of the damage those who are destructors are inflicting on our environment.

#‎ReviveMalkamariNationalPark‬!
Many don't understand the significance of natural wildlife and nature preservation!

We need ‪#‎Malkamari‬ National Park to be revived in Mandera County;
1) National parks are one of the major source of revenue for national and county government.
2) It is a recreation for the people of Mandera. Tourist lodge and horse race and Camel race course should also be established there .
3) It is an educational destination for many schools and colleges that are coming up in Mandera
4) The upcoming Mandera University will need biology research station. Surely, Malkamari National Park will provide that important resource.
5) We will preserve and protect our indigenous wildlife, both indigenous fauna and Flora
6 ) The land is nationally gazetted land, preserved for some of these important activities, alernative land must be sort for the occupiers, the park made free for upcoming important activities, Mandera is growing and it will grow better!

JUSTICE FOR NASRA

Another sad day for women and girl child of Mandera county. A 15 year old Nasra Yussuf Edin from Rhamu sub-county was raped and impregnated by a former councillor. Nasra who is set to join form one is lying semi-conscious at Mandera county referral hospital, her innocence destroyed, her dream shattered and ambition dashed. The culprit is roaming free in Nairobi street apparently taking advantage of the notorious 'maslaha system.

We need the real volunteers who can stand on the front line of Malkamari National Park conservation 365 days to lobby and protect flora, fauna and the entire population who depends on it.
Malkamari National Park is the best place for researching about all the fauna and flora in the park.

Survivors of terrorist attacks, sending her message of love- Margie Brand

I am a survivor of a terrorist attack. And this is my message of love.

Two years ago, armed men walked into a shopping mall on a crowded Saturday morning yielding automatic rifles and killing everyone in sight. I held onto my eight month old baby, running, slipping, my heart jumping out of my chest. I hid among the dead for 5 hours. It felt like a lifetime. Experiencing sounds and images I wish I did not. They walked calmly, up and down, among the aisles. Killing everyone they found. Again and again they walked past us. Not seeing me lying, curled up a ball, among the dying. My baby remained silent. We’ll never know how. Logic told me it was the time of final breaths. I was ready. No hate. Yes, incredible palatable fear, but not hate. Fear that moved past fear. Becoming strangely, peacefully accepting. Curled up on the hard, cold floor. I listened to the sounds of death interwoven with the feeling of silence.

Then. There he was. Looking down his barrel, straight at me. Towering. Eyes full of disdain. No one knows why that day of all days, after killing children, pregnant women, and anyone they could find, they told me to stand up. I knew that it would now be my end. They killed the woman lying next to me. They told me to walk. I walked over the dead. I walked out holding my baby. In another part of the mall my friend lay dead. He and sixty seven others never got to leave – many hundreds more still hold the scars from their wounds.

Like so many survivors, I still jump at the sound of a loud noise. I get up from a table and walk straight out of a restaurant if the lights flicker as they did just before the attack that day. Sights, sounds, smells – anything can unexpectedly take me back there. Take me back where I no longer want to go. Billions around the world are survivors. Survivors of terrorist attacks, natural disasters, rape, torture, war, conflict, home and farm invasions, shipwrecks, car and plane crashes, assaults. For so many of us, even though time may begin to heal, there will always be sights, sounds and smells that take us back there.

Instead of fear and hate, I invite you to join me. Join me in turning off the news. In most cases we already know what happened. We’ve heard and seen more than we ever need to know. I invite you to close your eyes, to imagine any image that gives you the feeling of love. Your newborn baby, children laughing, someone or something that you love. I invite you to take that feeling of love and imagine slowly breathing it out across the world. Wrapping our planet in it. Connecting with others who are emanating the same love. Breathing that feeling of love in and out. Again and again. As many times a day as you remember to, as many days as you can. Like a network of bright light connecting around the globe. I believe that together we can change the frequency of people’s thoughts and hearts. If we emanate fear and hatred, we connect with others who do the same, and we bring more and more into that field. If we emanate love, we grow our love network, and it envelops all others.

I shut my computer, my cell phone and ipad. Enough is enough. I close my eyes and emanate love.

P.S. Photograph: After the terrorists let me go, walking out of the supermarket, disorientated and scared, I was fortunate to be found by the heroes of that day (pictured here) who had arrived at the mall and were responsible for saving hundreds of lives that day. They guided me out of the building.

SEE THE WAR RULES OF PROPHET MUHAMMED (PBUH)

As a matter of fact, Islam and terrorism are precise opposites; the very name, Islam, denotes peace and submission. The fundamentals of Islam direct its followers to maintain and promote peace throughout the world. Islam is a faith of moderation; thus a righteous and God-fearing Muslim can neither be a fanatic nor an extremist. There is no connection whatsoever between Islam and the violence practiced by terrorist groups in different parts of the world. In no way does it condone hijackings, hostage taking, and the torture and killing of innocent people in order to achieve particular goals.

All religions and ideologies have some misguided followers, and it is surely unfair to judge any one of them by the behavior of such people.

See the war Rules of prophet Muhammed (PBUH) , look very well and compere it with fraud war of thieves calling them self Jihadist , almost every rules is violated by those artificial Jihadists of Our time.

Nairobi needs to reclaim it's old title of "the city in the sun".

"If City Hall is overwhelmed by garbage collection and disposal, I am more than willing to hire lorries and trucks and personnel to help in garbage collection and disposal. I will soon take a tour of all Nairobi residential areas to assess the situation. It is imperative to note that City Hall pays hundreds of millions to companies contracted to do garbage collection yet they give poor services to the people of Nairobi. I intend to lobby and to request all Nairobi MCAs to follow suit and demand that residents do not pay taxes such as licenses for 2016 until they receive better services. Further, if withholding taxes will not succeed, I will move to court to seek for an injunction to restrain Nairobi City County from collecting taxes from Nairobians until such a time that we shall be satisfied with service delivery.‪#‎Pundaimechokakulipataxbilabetterservices‬"-Mike Sonko

CAMPAIGN GREEN COUNTRY, MEDIA ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS, 2016 AND BEYOND: PHASE IV

As Prof. Wangari Maathai, point out, one of the vital steps to tackling climate change is educating yourself and your community. That is why Nomad Green Belt Movement is extended to announce that we are going green!

"You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them, and you help them understand that these resources are their own, and they must protect them". -Wangari Maathai

Nomad Green Belt Movement Team invited a renowned religious Sheikh to local media station Star FM tonight from 7:00pm-7:30pm, to present a theme on afforestation and environment in relation to religious context. He will elaborate this subject from the Quran, hadith and Islamic virtues that raise awareness on the essentials of saving our environment and the core roles each of us should play on the impact of planting more Trees and keeping our environment green and sparkling.

The objective is to instill a transformative generation on environmental protection. We aspire this change in nurturing our nature to provide a new lease of life not only in Mandera County but the entire Kenya as a whole.

The locals shall embrace the usefulness of this lecture and inculcate a positive change for the betterment of our surroundings. Don't miss Phase V January 2016

A NOMAD PERSONAL UPDATE

I have to say, one of the most difficult things to embrace is a hiatus from writing. I just don't know how to really express what I have been doing out of my passion for humanity. For sometimes I didn't pen anything about my life and my imagination power is too weak.

Over the last month I have been evaluating what I’ve managed to learn over the last thirty years of my life. I am often amazed and perplexed whenever I bring myself to reconcile with my own ignorance.

There is so much that needs to be learned throughout the course of a human lifetime. Dwelling on that is enough to deliver a person to insanity. For that reason I have rekindled some of the sustaining compassion which marshaled my entry into the world of the human condition in addition to all of its social sciences.

Hence, all the more reason to reevaluate where I’m going in life and what I want to do with it.
Currently, I am working only on winning understanding environment and making our mother earth, I know it is not possible to achieve this goal alone. I’ve dedicated most of my time to do what I could to plant a tree whenever I get a free minutes of times,; it is just a question of getting it all done supported by like minded friends.

Off-course I am not a lone in this, for there are worthy friends who often volunteer and dedicate their free time to invest in our environment for our children's children.

Paraphrasing president Barack Obama we have borrowed this land for our children so that our children will leave a healthy earth for their children to inherit what they inherited from us.
I often wonder, how will the world receive my effort if ever at all? In all honesty that really isn’t any of my business. On my deathbed I’ll let go from this world knowing full well that I did my part or what I could while I was in it.

As one traverses into the realm of mortal lifelessness there is this inescapable impression that descends on the mind; was it worth it or was it all in vain?

TRIBAL CLASHES- PEACE AND INSECURITY CAMPAIGN

RHAMU SUB-COUNTY REVISIT BY ‪#‎NOMAD GREEN BELT MOVEMENT AND WALK OF HOPE

Contrary to the thoughts of Wajir and Garissa Counties, of a more security prone zone, Mandera County provided a serene and enthusiastic welcoming people. As twitted by some observer, when the walk of hope team entered the Mandera County. I quote 'they entered another planet'. That the picture they had been given about Mandera Insecurity was totally different, is clear. People came out in large numbers to walk and show the struggle for inspiration.

I call upon everone to keep the pride and morale of saving our County, progress ahead and prosper in future.

Rhamu Sub-County is an area affected by tribal clashes for two decades but when we visited them, many social barriers were diminished. A good example, the clan affiliation and euphoria that, separated people in worship was a thing of the past, when the two communities were assembling for a unique Eid-fitr prayer. It was crystal clear that the celebration was conducted peacefully and harmoniously.

The team discussed with youths over other areas unaddressed band which needed attention. Nomad green belt movement teams put more emphasis on how to come up with a Rhamu Sub-County cultural day event ; on how two communities can display their cultures. As part of community development, the team encouraged the residents especially the youth in making proper use of their time. Some of the activities they can actively support include;
1. Small scale farming: they can utilize the River Dawa; the uncultivated bare lands, write proposals to county governments for capacity building on best farming and practice self-relience.
2. Active commitment in communal work: planning on how to conduct mass wedding for our ladies who had already sent their invitation request to us. Discouraging divorce and build families.
3. Encouraged youths to get employment as our priorities. The youth can seek education and skills for employment.

A day to reflect our journey so far and what needs to be done going forward. I therefore, seek the support of everyone to embrace unity and build societies.

SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND TALENTS

Sport and dance talents for Education, cultural preservation, environmental protection, poverty, peace, deradicalization, early marriage, FGM and Cimate Change

Today I organized group of youths from both ends, to increase the morale of the Rer Rhamu residents or communities to live in harmony. During a candid talk with the gathering, we implored youths to love each other as a neighbours, stand together in weddings, burials and in times of every need.

I once again encouraged every youth to go extra miles to heal those families that were affected during past tribal clashes.

In future, we want to encourage locals to participate in large numbers in unique competitions like Mandera County ‪#‎Nomad Green belt Movement and Walk of Hope‬ marathon, swimming, donkey race, bicycle race and camel derby!
