NORTHERN & COASTAL KENYA DEVELOPMENT TOUR PART II

Hello Good People!

On behalf of NGBM volunteers teams, we thanked the residents and everyone who participated in NGBM Northern Kenya development tour part II for their endless support and trusting us with the volunteers responsibilities, that had led to this groundbreaking, inspirational research work and made it successful.

It really was an eye opener interracting with Coastal & Northern Kenya communities, across Kenyan at large and getting to understand their challenges from inside out as opposed to looking from the outside and assuming we understand. Lets unite against a wonderful past dark and groom both region challenges.

Our volunteers team are trying hard day in day out, to restore hope to many people especially the Northern Kenya who for many years were marginalized leaving  the region  underdeveloped. The movement have been growing, backing NGBM unique projects with both high predicted social and environmental consciousness built into the potential to unlock huge impacts and spur positive change.

We fulfilled our promises from last year to double our impact and our outreach. Put in on your Calendar, we need your support to make this project happen.  We look forward to seeing you and really witnessed excellent steps from previous years, with making a real difference by spreading at lightening speed, we must act fast. We also believe that you can conquer your fears, push past your problems, and achieve your goals!

In upcoming Africa Nomad development tour  part III, which will officially kick off on October 2016, will highlight many unaddressed issues in Northern & Coastal Kenya and Africa. Be part of the solution teams, participate during your free time, resources and knowledge to make a difference in your community. Together we will keep changing the world.Spread the word as well.

Thanks👌🏾

Start date: 24th May 2016
Closing date: 28th August 2016

KUTULO SUB-COUNTY DAM

This Dam at Kutulo provide water for irrigation purpose. We meet with WUAS (Water Users Association members)who explained the piping and use of generating to irrigate farms established by Youths and Women through Nomad Green Belt Movement (NGBM) initiatives to improve livelihoods instead of dependence on food Aid. Lets fight poverty and hunger by utilising available resources.

ELRAM PRIMARY SCHOOL

Courtesy call on Elram primary School. The best well performing KCPE in Mandela County. I happened to share a meeting with the School Headteacher, Mr.Aliow Ibrahim, my former Mathematics teacher at El-wak D.E.B primary School way back. We agreed to green the school compound. The area Chief joined in tow, the school head took us on tour of the school compound. Nomad Green Belt Movement promised to provide free seedlings and advised the formation of Nomad Green Environmental, wildlife and peace Club to facilitate environmental activities.

KUTULO SUB-COUNTY BARRIER

The buses make a stop at Kutulo Police barrier. We must consider peace and tranquility as a pillar for development. When one fear being attacked because at one point, something happened there, it looks weird to consider the area red spot without finding a long term solution to it. So everything in the area is haunted by the ghost of fear. There comes a time when you feel insecure traveling at some point. Security is very important, I urge all to advocate for peace and work with government to reduce risks levels.

ISIOLO COUNTY DEVELOPMENT TOUR

Nomad Green Belt Movement launched a project which is part of long term strategy of mitigating the impacts of drought by investing in resilience building through mid-to- long term livelihood strengthening initiatives that contribute to better adaptation to the effects of drought, diversification of livelihoods to increase levels of household income and health promotion/disease prevention.

We have already designed pilot project in other counties in Northern region and are witnesses it's success with the objective of improving community resilience to food insecurity and health risks of targeted communities in the region.

The multi-faceted approach to contribute towards improving the quality of life of Isiolo County residents for sustainable development is significant. This is to be achieved through key interventions aimed at contributing to improved Community member’s livelihood and food security.

Earlier these year Nomad Green Belt Movement (NGBM) introduced a new initiative of transforming Northern Kenya from a marginalised poor dependent counties aid foods to an economically independent and socially progressive counties.

TRANSFORMATIVE PEACE IN NORTHERN KENYA

Motivated against all odds, I feel joy to be at the forefront with Nomad Green Belt Movement, and caravan walk of hope teams as we were delivering message of hope, peace and solidarity to the residents of Isiolo and the entire Northern Kenya. The inspiration triggered residents, who join the team jubilantly to walk for 2km from Oil-Libya to MOTI plaza for peace  walk.

I was passionate and always interested in peacebuilding, community empowerment and enhancing their value to embrace dialogue and peace in their surroundings, of social circles, sports, business, educational centres, towns, professional and settlement.

Let's always avoid the people and circumstances trying to pull us out of peace. This is the one #walkOfHope you should not miss in 2016, 2017 and beyond. It's amazing what we can choose to accomplish.

Join Nomad Green Peace & Walk of hope voice to advocate for peace and take a stand against all the peace nodes.

CHIEF MOHAMED JARI MEMORIAL PEACE PARK

Nomad Green Belt Movement Executive Director planted the Trees at Chief Mohamed Jari Community park grounds at Kutulo Sub-County headquater through the NGBM agenda of planting Half a million Trees at Kutulo. The site of the old Kutulo primary school will soon became a modern community park.

NGBM design to plant Trees and the mission of the community park is to provide safe recreational opportunities through diverse programmes, facilities, open space, with the overall goal being improvement of the social circle and the  focus is to make positive changes in the lives of the people especially children  travellers,  and the Nomadic people who notmally bring their domestic livestock to Kutulo water point.

The trees planted will protect them from the dust that comes from the highway, which will give the residents of Kutulo an healthy environment or biodiversity and beauty of the vicinity.

NGBM team were delighted with the planting exercise and appeared on numerous events in both private and public institutions to reach 2016 target plan of planting #15Milliontrees to save environment in Northern Kenya and beyond.

NGBM will spare no effort to make the region greener, as we will enlighten communities to eradicate illiteracy. But without cooperation of citizens, it's not possible to bring improvement in the environmental justice and enhance the scientific management of forest cover.

We hope to see these Trees flourish over the next 2 years!
