ALSHABAB SHOULD RESPECT HUMANITY

The attack on live saving ambulamce is a painful encounter. The Kenya Redcross /Mandera County ambulance left Elwak hospital with a mother in prolonged labour that was referred to Mandera County Referral hospital on emergency. On their way passing almost two kilometres along Alangu location, they were hard hit by unknown militant with IED, the vehicle was on high speed rushing patient but the impact of the vibration from explosive devices broke the ambulance glasses or screens.

The brave driver of the ambulance risked his life in order to safe the life of the mother in labour pain and also the life of unborn baby and continued with their journey by over speeding.

The God blessing can come in form of many style that eased her pain and she delivered immediately after they reached a nearby town safely and finally they stop at Lafey Sub-County hospital.

The neighbouring country or trouble makers should give us total peace and stop driving our region into insecurity prone in Mandera situation. Violence or extremism is unislamic therefore we condemn such inhumane acts meted out on innocent people.

We are peace loving Kenyans, stop destructive minds, and sporadic the attacks on our people. Stop ungodly acts, Islam stands for peace.

TRAVEL ADVISORY IN MANDERA COUNTY

Ten killed, 700 infected  with cholera in Mandera County is at alarming as more people express ill health in every households.

With regards to disaster in Mandera. Its important that, people should avoid going to Mandera Town for a while until situation is normal. This will help the MINISTRY Of HEALTH and other stakeholders to know those who are infected and also reduce spread of disease to other Sub-Counties and beyond. Residents of Takaba, Banisa, Rhamu, Elwak and other location of Mandera East should stay put due to current health crisis. Movement of people will cause more spread of the disease.

Nomad Green Belt Movement (NGBM) have urged all its volunteers across Mandera County to carryout door to door sensitization to train the residents of Mandera East Sub-County on how to treat water, observe hygiene and keep their environment clean and tidy. We therefore, urge residents to observe high standard hygiene. Ensure living in a clean environment.

We are pleased to request Mandera County Governor HE Cpt. Ali Ibrahim Roba to address the residents of Mandera County and beyond about travel advisory, curb the current situation until Mandera residents successfully overcome cholera and Chikungunya menace.

We request all roads be closed and mass campaign should kick off in Mandera Town.

Meanwhile, we recommend the  following:-
Proper and timely case management in cholera treatment centres; specific training for proper case management, including avoidance of nosocomial infections; sufficient pre-positioned medical supplies for case management (e.g. diarrhoeal disease kits). Improved access to water, effective sanitation, proper waste management and vector control; enhanced hygiene and food safety practices; improved Communication and public information. Conditions that breed illnesses must be eliminated, to overcome more people falling ill.

People who contract these diseases must be quickly treated, however, more lives will be saved if the conditions that breed the diseases are removed. Movement of people should be addressed to avoid more casualties across inter or intra counties.

NOMAD GREEN TRIP TO GARISSA COUNTY

During recent visits to Garissa County on our way from Nairobi it was raining cat and dog until the car we were travelling with was dirtified, we found a very desperate lack of water at cash-wash and witnessed the situation that can't add up totally. It doesn't make sense that there's scarcity of water in town.
While there is Tana River nearest in town as source of water while its bank burst and caused humanitarian crisis. The river is the only permanent one in the entire North Eastern Province that linked to Indian Ocean.

We went to over three (3) gas station (petrol stations) which isn't far from the river of less than a kilometre but as we are about to make our mind to embark on our journey after we are done with our mission and wash at Mwingi Town or Nairobi but with God grace when we finally proceeded to the last petrol station we saw a motorbike doing cleaning.

If only Tana River could have been utilised well, Garissa residents would be the best in the country by practising the following;
a)Irrigation farming
b) Fish farming
c) Livestock farming
d) Attractive investment plans-opening of companies in the county, creating employment and development of infrastructure.

Exploit the Tana River domestically to meet the growing needs of water. Take advantage of favorable circumstances. Northern Kenya is endowed with abundant natural resources, especially the overflowing rivers.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MIGRATORY BIRDS MONTH!

The THEME for this year is "STOP THE ILLEGAL KILLING, TAKING AND TRADE OF MIGRATORY BIRDS". In 2016 NGBM are focused on the importance of preserving existing habitat, the threats to habitats, the elements of habitat on which birds depend and how restoration of habitats benefits birds.
In honor of International Migratory Birds Month, it is important to preserve and protect them. NGBM recognised and commemorate the month and show the importance of International efforts to conserve birds lobby for agreements, laws, treaties, and collaborations.

As a pioneer environmental group NGBM in Northern Kenya does lobby on the importance of protecting and conserving birds of prey. There is a wide range of reasons for the illegal killing, taking and trade of birds as of subsistence uses, traditional practice and recreational activities. Now, we're to protect an important part of the Northern Kenya Jungle from the effects of a warming climate and deforestation.

As a friend of Birds and Nature stand up with NGBM and be among the many citizens who recognize the important of protecting the landscape, the birds and the atmosphere. We really need to do more to help protect all our birds. They are an important member in every ecosystem!

Birds are one of our closest connections to wildlife and nature; they share habitats with humans in cities, suburbs, forests, farms, and beyond.

Join the NGBM in making the world a better place for birds through awareness creation and cooperation in order to fight illegal killing and trade of birds.

According to public health officer, there is 533 people suffering from cholera currently under treatment at the hospital, while 33 are in isolation ward due to their severity of their deterioration.

WILDLIFE CONSERVATION

After the extensive research and interview sessions, the Northern Kenya people are the biggest losers in wildlife conservation. Many in the region don't understand the benefits accruing with these development. Nomad Green Belt Movement urged the Northern region residents to free their minds from selfish interest or stereotyped developmental issues.

I call them the masked enemies of progress, as we unveil our new strategy to conserve the Kenya's largest wild regions. Ignorance is the key enemy towards development, and of good governance. It must be  ridden of, the people at large should focus on achieving this national objective of wildlife conservation.

They must maintain a healthy mindset and develop a strong sense of reasoning especially now that the devolved development plan is  embraced.

As a lobby team, we advocate to revive the wildlife to ensure development, while lessening some potential impacts on wildlife, natural resources and the environment. The wildlife is threatened on so many fronts over climate change, water scarcity, soil erosion, deforestation, illegal wildlife trade and habitat destruction to make room for human development.

Incredible images will be telling amazing stories about the wonderful world we live in and the importance of protecting our biodiversity.

There is great power and influence in creating awareness across counties as we're fulfilling our mission in a year, filled with challenges and change.

Let's wish our friends at the Wildlife and Conservation Society the very best as they work through this difficult period in the harsh environment.

THE GARISSA COUNTY DEFORESTATION EFFECTS UNBEARABLE

Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land.

The Nomad Green Belt Movement a fact finding team has found a worrying negative trend on the ongoing wanton destruction of Garissa County Trees.

Those who are destroying the forest without processing permit to destroy our indigenous trees, have caused huge impact on the environment. Its very stressful when you encounter the forest destroyers comfortably drive their donkey-Cat to the market with no regard for environmental laws.

The Northern Kenya forests could completely vanish in a twenty years at the current rate of deforestation. Its alarming, and must stop! Replace by planting more trees and avoid the cutting of trees.

The whole arrangement looks like raping the environment and destroying natural heritage. We need to understand that without trees, destroyed forest lands  quickly become barren deserts.

But also seen in the photos herein, destruction of indigenous trees are wrecking havoc on forest. If we have no tree replacement plans, our environmental future is at stake.

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY 2016

Happy MOTHERS' DAY to the wonderful, responsible and beautiful mothers all over the entire universe!

This year Nomad Green Belt Movement (NGBM)volunteer team target to plant 15 Million trees. The Trees that can unite people all over the Northern Kenya region, inspiring ambassadors, environmental activist, a gardener and desert forest friends of nature. Planting fruit trees in your plot is encouraged or motivates your colleagues, families and friends to practice and share the harvest with 20 people of your friends, colleagues, schoolmates and family members.

Let us preserve our culture and hold on to it's beauty of unifying mankind and thus help us refrain from tribal frictions that always causes environmental destruction when two clans are at war. Instead of obsession with retrogressive norms, as alluded above, we better put all our energies and efforts towards creating great lovely neighbourhoods, green our desert regions and fight climate change.
